LONDON (Reuters) - International Olympic Committee Chairman Thomas Bachxo walletconfirmed today (Feb 3) that he will meet Chinese female tennis player Peng Saiwei, who has made world-wide rumours. The meeting was expected to take place within the closed loop of the Beijing-hosted Winter Olympics, but did not disclose when.
Closed loop is the zone where all Winter Olympics participants are under strict measures to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, Reuters reported on Wednesday (Feb 3). in beijing The opening ceremony of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games is about to begin on Friday.
IOC president Thomas Bach told a news conference Thursday the meeting between him and Chinese tennis player Peng Shuai, saying: "She will enter into a closed loop in order to make this meeting happen because you want this.”
In which at the press conference, Bach continued that "After all the processes are done, we will have discussions."
However, the IOC president did not disclose when he will meet with Peng. People living in China who want to enter a closed loop need to show two negative COVID-19 tests for confirmation.
Peng last month announced that she had not accused anyone of sexually assaulting her. And her posts are misleading. While former Chinese Prime Minister Zhang Gaoli has never publicly commented on the scandal involving him.
The IOC has made a few video calls with the famous female tennis player, but the IOC has expressed a desire to meet her privately during the upcoming Winter Olympics on Feb. 4. 20 Feb.
Bach pointed out, "We know from her description... that she lives in Beijing... that she can move freely and still spend time with family and friends."
