Hardstyle was born in the Netherlands, heavily influenced by hard trance and gabber, which were popular during the 1990s. Producers like Dana, Pavo, and Luna were among the early pioneers who helped shape the sound of the genre. Early hardstyle tracks were raw and minimalist, featuring heavy kick drums, reverse basslines, and stripped-back melodies. These early tracks were designed for the underground rave scene, where energy and intensity were the main focus.
